Lewis Hamilton and Usain Bolt

Another great race win for Lewis Hamilton at the US Grand Prix also securing the Constructors’ Championship for Mercedes AMG.

Hamilton started on pole with the possibility to win the drivers’ championship with Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel came 6th or less but Vettel who started alongside Hamilton put the pressure on taking the lead from the start and for the first 5 laps until Lewis took the lead back.

Max Verstappen's last lap overtake. Unfortunately, it cost him a place.

Hamilton, who’s has dominated at the US Grand Prix over the years then cruised home on a 1-stop strategy to Vettel’s 2-stop.

Daniel Riccardo’s engine gave up early on spoiling what was looking like a great race for him and his Red Bull, while his teammate, Max Verstappen will be having mixed emotions after that race.  The penalty means he started 16th but with an amazing drive was in 4th by the final lap. It was a Ferrari double podium finish, but only just! A late move from  Max Verstappen on Kimi Raikkonen relegated the Finn off the podium, but the daring move from the Red Bull was deemed to gain an advantage from all four wheels leaving the track, so a 5-second time penalty was added to Verstappen’s time after the chequered flag for Raikkonen to take the third step on the podium.

So the driver’s championship is still up for grabs as the race moves to Mexico but likely Lewis Hamilton will be crowned with his 4th driver’s championship next weekend.
